Each year the Story Olive Oil Co. hand picks the
Arbequina olives and has them processed commercially
into oil early the next morning.  This relationship of
harvest-to-processing time is important for you the buyer
seeking quality oil for consumption and health.

Located just east of the Napa and Sonoma Counties in
Northern California, the olive trees grown here enjoy the
warm sun in a moderately dry climate not unlike other
regions in the world where olives grow best.

A little about how the orchard started
Our orchard was entirely prepared by my wife and I. We
were fortunate (and thankful!) to have some help from
our friends for some of the planting.

If you can imagine this sequence that went on for a few
continous weeks; I would drill holes for trees in the
morning before I went to work.  My wife would get home
from her job mid-day and plant into the afternoon.  I
would arrive later in the evening to stake the trees she
planted and usually still planting by the time I arrived.
And I would put up the drip line and mark where the
holes would be augered for more trees the next day.

Of course before all of this planting, Pam and I used a
transit to survey & layout the orchard.  I then
deep-ripped the rows, disked and leveled the ground.
There is also a considerable amount of trenching for
primary and secondary PVC lines, valves, etc. that all
had to go in the ground before planting and individual
drip line connections could begin.
